Attendance

Attendance is known to be one of the biggest factors influencing a child’s academic success. Encouraging school attendance is one of the most important ways to prepare your child for success. Many activities at school are hands on and include working with other students, which are difficult to make up. Your child is more likely to keep up with classwork and instructional time when they are here at school. As a parent, making your child’s attendance a priority can prepare them for a lifetime of success. Always remember, EVERY MINUTE COUNTS!

Attendance Time Frames:
- School opens at 8:45 am for students.
- All students are encouraged to arrive to school no earlier than 8:45 am and no later than 9:00 am
- Students who are "Parent Pick-up" or riding the bus are dismissed at 4:00 pm

Late Arrivals:
-Children arriving after 9:00 am need to be signed in at the office and receive a pass that they will give to their teacher. Parents must accompany children in to the office to sign-in.
-
We ask that parents do not walk their child to the classroom because it can interrupt the learning environment. BUT, a staff member is always available if your child would like someone to walk with. :-)

Student Absence:
If your child will not be able to attend school, please contact the office by 9:00 am that day. If we are not notified, we will contact you to verify your child's absence.
*You may leave a message on the answering machine if you call before 8:00 am. Please state your name, your child’s name, your child's teacher, and the reason for the absence.
*If you would rather send an email, please email the attendance secretary @
[email protected]

Early Dismissals:
- If a student needs to leave school early, a parent must come to the office to sign the child out.
-
All parents signing children out early will be asked to show valid identification on EVERY occasion.
- Parents should never go to the classroom to pick up their child. Teachers cannot dismiss a child from the classroom to a parent.

Change in Normal Dismissal Procedures:

-We ask that all dismissal changes be made by 2:30 pm to ensure every student is sent home properly. Please be sure to call the main office with any changes. We cannot guarantee a dismissal change if the change is shared with the teacher via email. Teachers do not always have time to check their email multiple times a day.
-Children will be sent home as usual, no matter how insistent they may be, unless we hear from the parent. We greatly appreciate your understanding!
