It ’s Walk-A-Thon time!!!

Our 2nd Annual St. Peters Elementary Walk-A-Thon is coming– Friday, September 29th! This is your chance to have fun with your friends, get fit, and help make this a great year for SPE! With everyone’s help, we can make this Walk-A-Thon a fun day for the whole school. 100% of the funds students raise will go directly to the school PTC to benefit our students. These funds are used to support teacher supplies, student supplies, community events for the school, and technology to name a few.
When is the walk?
The Walk-A-Thon will take place a St. Peters Elementary during the school hours on Friday, September 29th. Participation is free and students will walk, with their classmates, during their specials hour. Families are welcome, and encouraged, to come watch or walk and cheer for the Panther Cub walkers throughout the day. There will be certain times for each grade level. Please look for that schedule to come home from school soon!
What to wear?
We encourage all students to pick out their craziest socks and display them along with their school spirit on the day of the Walk-A-Thon! In addition to crazy socks, wear St. Peters Elementary colors (green and yellow), any spirit wear you have, or your Walk-A-Thon t-shirt (see below). Please dress for the weather. In the even of severe weather, our Walk-A-Thon will be postponed for one week (September 6th).
Why a Walk-A-Thon?
In the past, Saint Peters Elementary has done a couple of fundraisers per year, which included selling items. With research and asking for parent input, we have found that fundraiser with 100% profit going to the school will be more beneficial to the students and their families. Our goal this year is to raise $15,000! That’s a BIG number, but with your support, our students can achieve anything! In fact, if each student is able to meet the challenge of raising $25.00 in donations, we will achieve a large part of that goal. Usually we do two “selling fundraisers to raise that amount, and our hope is to make this Walk-A-Thon the ONLY fundraiser the school needs in upcoming years.
How does it work?
The process is simple!! Students will ask family members, neighbors, parents’ coworkers or business associates, and friends to be “sponsors.” Please do not go door to door unless you have an adult with you. Sponsorship is a flat donation amount, not based on laps or minutes walked. Donations can be ANY amount. We will happily take coin donations as well! Cash, coins, or checks mad out to “SPE PTC,” can be collected. Most importantly, always remember to say “Thank You!” Students who reach a goal of raising at least $25 will receive a special Walk-A-Thon shirt. Funds collected can be turned in up until the Walk-A-Thon, but if you’ve reached the $25 goal, to receive a shirt, funds collected must be turned in by Friday, September 15th. The rest of our funds need to be turned in by September 22nd. All students raising $100 or more will have lunch with Dr. Gruntman and the classroom that raises the most money will earn a cookie party!!
